Meet The Small Guide Travel Team
The Small Guide Travel team is a ‘small’ team - a team dedicated to and passionate about their Pacific destinations. They have experienced sights, sounds and tastes of the Pacific and have stayed at or visited over 150 accommodation properties so have the knowledge to match guests with the right destination and the right resort to suit needs, wants and budgets.
Small Guide Travel is a licensed travel agency and member of the Travel Compensation Fund and specialises in arranging holidays, honeymoons, tropical weddings and study tours.
Ian Heydon fell in love with the Pacific in 1993 and 1994 when he visited Fiji for two holidays and did his PADI dive accreditation. He first visited Vanuatu in 1999 for another tropical holiday.
That two-week break turned into three fantastic years. On returning to Australia in 2003 Ian applied for a travel agent's licence to specialise in arranging travel to Vanuatu.
Ian and business partner, Jenny Cowles, formed Small Guide Travel with the philosophy of offering local knowledge, personal service and competitive prices. These days it is Jenny who is living in Vanuatu, managing a resort as well as working with Small Guide Travel.
Ian and his family live in Queensland these days, but he visits Vanuatu regularly and always finds something new and wonderful. Ian has also explored the Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, New Caledonia. Hawaii and much of Australia.
In 2009 Sonya Pullin and Annie Connolly joined the Small Guide team. Sonya lived in Vanuatu for ten years (she is always ready for a ‘Vanuatu chat’) and Annie had her first trip in 2009 (she also fell in love with the destination!). In 2010, Mandi Forrester-Jones came on board as Small Guide’s specialist consultant to Fiji, Samoa and the Cook Islands, her three favourite Pacific destinations. Mandi married in Fiji and she knows the people as well as the places.
