Meet The Small Guide Travel Team

Ian Heydon

Ian has travelled extensively through Europe, the UK, Asia and the US. He first visited Vanuatu in 1999 for a holiday. That two-week break turned into three fantastic years. On returning to Australia in 2003 he applied for a travel agent's licence to specialise in romantic breaks to Vanuatu. He, and business partner Jenny, formed Small Guide Travel with the philosophy of offering local knowledge, personal service and competitive prices. While Ian and his family live in Queensland these days, he visits Vanuatu regularly and always finds something new and wonderful. Ian has also explored the Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, New Caledonia and much of Australia. Email: Ian@SmallGuide.com.au

Jenny Cowles

Jenny has worked in the travel industry since 1994 with international, domestic and regional airlines within Australia and more recently Internet travel companies. Jen has travelled to the UK, USA, Asia and most of the South Pacific Islands. Jen's love of the tropics came about through frequent visits to Vanuatu, Fiji and the Cook Islands for work and pleasure. She loves the relaxed lifestyle, friendly people, and beautiful landscapes, and, since June 2008, she and husband Roland have made Port Vila their home. Jenny is 'on the ground' to assist Small Guide Travel guests travelling to Vanuatu. Email: Jenny@SmallGuide.com.au

Laura Gant

Laura joined Small Guide Travel in early 2004. With a comprehensive background in organising travel, she took to her new role like a canoe to a tropical lagoon. Laura has travelled throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Australia and has visited Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and the Cook Islands for both work and holidays. She intends to continue exploring the Pacific with her partner, Scoot, to find new favourite romantic places. They have yet to find one that beats Vanuatu but it's worth the search! Email: Laura@SmallGuide.com.au

Naomi Gray

Naomi joined Small Guide Travel in June 2008. After completing a Bachelor of Business majoring in Tourism and Marketing she travelled for three months to North America, Hawaii, Canada, Ireland, London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Turkey and Egypt, and then another three months travelling through Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Naomi loves Vanuatu and plans on visiting many more times, but her current travel plans see her arriving in the United Kingdom in 2009, where she will set up the UK branch of Small Guide Travel. Email: Naomi@SmallGuide.com.au

Emma Davies

Emma started working with Small Guide Travel at the beginning of 2007. Before joining the team Emma travelled to Vanuatu many times, including the outer islands, where she has stayed with the local villagers as a part of their family (Moso and Paama islands). Emma loves socialising with friends and pretty much spends all her wages on shopping for new clothes. Email: Emma@SmallGuide.com.au

Lauren Seivers

Lauren joined the Small Guide Team in August 2008 after getting the 'travel bug' exploring Australia. In December 2008 she experienced Vanuatu for the first time and, in many ways, is the best-qualified consultant to look after Vanuatu inquiries. It only takes one visit to be seduced by this fascinating, beguiling tropical paradise! Lauren has a passion for art and music and plays guitar, (very poorly!). Email: Lauren@SmallGuide.com.au

Eileen McBride

Eileen also joined the Small guide team in 2008. Eileen grew up, went to school and worked in the Cook Islands (work lunch breaks were spent sunbaking at the beach!). Eileen married on One Foot Island in Aitutaki and has designed her very own Cook Islands skin care range. Now living in Sydney, with her local knowledge and experience as a Travel Consultant (having also travelled back and forth to Fiji) Eileen offers expert advice on where to stay and what to do when visiting her untouched paradise. In her spare time she likes nothing better than a bar of chocolate and a good book. Email: Eileen@SmallGuide.com.au

Edmund von Heiderbrandt

Tuilaepa Edmund von Heiderbrandt is simply Edmund to the rest of the team (and guests) of Small Guide Travel. The rest of his name tells Samoans that he is a Samoan chief and comes from the German-Samoan heritage. For 13 years Edmund was Samoa Tourism's representative in Australia and he is on hand to give travellers to Samoa a rich itinerary that can only come from local knowledge. Email: Edmund@SmallGuide.com.au

Jess Doherty

Jess joined the Small Guide team in March 2009. Jess has always had the travel bug and has visited America on several occasions, as well as New Zealand, Bali and Singapore. She recently returned from Vanuatu where she experienced it all - the resorts, culture, food and the nightlife. Apart from her love of travelling, Jess recently completed a Diploma in Advertising and Graphic Design. This year is a big year for her as she will be launching Honeymoon Bali in August, which will cater to weddings, honeymoons and general travel throughout Bali. Email: Jess@SmallGuide.com.au
